I create botanical bas-relief casts directly from plants collected in the field — in places that hold meaning, history, or memory. Each piece preserves not only a plant but a place and a moment in time.

I've been composing with plants my entire life — the medium just kept changing. What began with live plants pulled from a Michigan lake and arranged in an aquarium at age seven has moved through decades of field work, greenhouse study, and travel to the places where plants do something extraordinary. Botanical bas-relief is where that attention finally found its permanent form.

I collect locally and far — along Michigan railroad grades, in the boreal forests of the Upper Peninsula, the dripping green of the Hoh Rain Forest, the riparian corridors of the Sonoran Desert. I work by hand to capture what time erases. Each relief is a record of where I stood, what I touched, and what nature offered that day.
